Eine der am meist unterschätzten, ja quasi ignorierten, CDs der letzten 10 Jahre ist in meinen Augen “Kontiki” von Cotton Mather. Die krame ich regelmäßig zum Sommer hervor und freue mich über knapp 60 Minuten reine Rock-Pop-Kunst. Über gut überlegte Harmonie, Break, Bridge, Vers und Text und wasweissichnoch.
Eigentlich in der TOP 10 der 90er.
Wenn da nicht…Diesen Gesangsstil kennen wir von einer anderen Band und deren Platte “Revolver”. Und der Komponist heisst zu allem Unglück auch noch Robert Harrison. Das hat ihnen, so glaube ich, den Geraus gemacht. Der Weg zum Glück führt also dieses Mal direkt über diese zwei Lieder:

It is! And certainly one of the most underrated albums in the last years. Any news on this fantastic band?
My understanding is that the band broke up as a result of the usual combination of bad luck, failed record companies, and frustration over lack of commercial progress. Head songwriter Robert Harrision is supposedly working on another project. I think there is a MySpace.com page for Cotton Mather (including demo versions of some Kon-Tiki songs!) and maybe a band webpage.
I have their prior CD and the EP and full-length that came after. Nothing as stunningly great as Kon-Tiki, but still worthwhile.
