Wer sind diese The Rifles? Sind das jetzt die neuen The Jam oder Blur? Oder etwa einfach die Symbiose aus beidem? Eine Erfindung ihres Produzenten Ian Broudie? Genau genommen sind sie eine Simulation von etwas, das vorgibt, “neu“ zu sein: Eine künstliche Wiederauferstehung des Britpop. Vielleicht sind sie gerade dadurch sie selbst? Aber: Wäre das dann noch wichtig bei einem Hype, der irgendwann beginnen dürfte, sich selbst auf die Schippe zu nehmen?
Klingt: Schnell, laut und vergänglich. Denn nichts ist so alt, wie die Party von gestern.

Great band The Rifles. Looking forward to the album next week and their gig and instore show in london, should be special.

In meinen Augen derzeit eine der besten Bands von der Insel. Das erste Album war super der Nachfolger knüpft direkt dort an.
Nett arrangierte Songs, gute Texte, Stimme passt… ok, man muss wohl “BritPop” mögen, vor allem die BeatGitarre.
